Crowns, bridges & dentures explained

Crowns cover a damaged tooth completely and restore its shape and function. Bridges close a gap by being attached to neighbouring teeth or implants. Dentures replace several or all teeth in a jaw; they can be removable or attached to implants.

For natural-looking results we use, among other materials, metal-free all-ceramic zirconia: no dark crown margins and no metal in the mouth. For high-quality removable dentures we work with the zirconia galvano technique. The work is made in cooperation with experienced dental laboratories.

When is the treatment appropriate?

  • Badly damaged or root-filled teeth
  • One or more gaps between teeth
  • A toothless upper or lower jaw
  • Old dentures that no longer fit or look unattractive

How the treatment works

  1. Advice and planning

We discuss the possible solutions with their advantages and disadvantages, and the costs.

  2. Preparation

The teeth are prepared and impressions taken; you receive a temporary restoration if needed.

  3. Fabrication

Your restoration is custom-made in the dental laboratory and matched to your teeth in shape and colour.

  4. Fitting and check-up

We fit the restoration, check your bite and fit, and adjust it if needed.

Benefits

  • Restored chewing and speech
  • A natural look matched to your teeth
  • Metal-free solutions in all-ceramic zirconia possible
  • Solutions for different budgets

Risks and limitations

Crowns and bridges require tooth structure to be removed; this cannot be undone. Prepared teeth can be temporarily sensitive, and rarely a root canal treatment becomes necessary later. Removable dentures need a period of getting used to and can cause pressure sores at first. How long a restoration lasts depends largely on care, load and regular check-ups.

Aftercare

Care for crowns and bridges like your own teeth and clean especially carefully under bridge units and at the crown margin. Clean removable dentures daily outside the mouth. Regular check-ups help detect pressure sores, poor fit and decay on supporting teeth early.

Frequently asked questions

Crown, bridge or implant – what is right for me?

That depends on the condition of the neighbouring teeth, the available bone, your wishes and your budget. We explain the options with their advantages and disadvantages so you can decide calmly.

Can I pay the costs in instalments?

Yes. Payment in instalments through our billing company is possible for all treatment costs.
