Dentistry for seniors: with patience and experience

A well-functioning set of teeth contributes greatly to quality of life in old age. Seniors make up the majority of patients in our practice. We take particular time for them and find a suitable solution for every budget.

Dentistry for seniors explained

With age, teeth, gums and jawbone change. Often crowns, bridges or dentures are already in place that need to be adjusted or renewed, and general illnesses or medicines play a larger role.

We offer all common modern denture systems: telescopic dentures, dentures with conical crowns, hybrid dentures on zirconia galvano telescopes and implant-retained dentures with LOCATOR or ball attachments. For smaller budgets there are proven clasp-retained and full dentures.

When is the treatment appropriate?

  • Loose or pressing dentures
  • Several missing teeth
  • The wish for a firmer hold, for example with implants
  • Regular check-ups and care of existing dentures

How the treatment works

  1. Detailed consultation

We take time for your wishes, your health and your medicines and discuss the options that suit your budget.

  2. Planning

Together we choose the right solution, from adjusting existing dentures to an implant-retained restoration.

  3. Fabrication and fitting

Your dentures are custom-made, fitted and carefully adjusted.

  4. Ongoing support

At regular check-ups we check the fit and adjust as needed.

Benefits

  • Plenty of time, patience and sensitivity
  • Solutions for every budget
  • Modern denture systems for a better hold
  • Implant-retained solutions possible

Risks and limitations

New dentures need a period of getting used to; at first, pressure sores or changed speech can occur. General illnesses and certain medicines, such as blood thinners or osteoporosis drugs, can affect procedures; please bring a current list of your medicines. Even well-fitting dentures need adjusting over time because the jaw changes.

Aftercare

Clean removable dentures daily outside the mouth and look after remaining teeth and implants particularly carefully. Contact us about pressure sores that do not heal. Regular check-ups ensure hold and fit.

Frequently asked questions

My denture is loose. What can be done?

Often a denture can be relined or adjusted. Telescopic or conical crowns on your own teeth, or implants with attachments, give a firmer hold. We advise you on which solution is suitable for you.

Can implants be placed at an older age?

Old age alone does not rule out implants. What matters is your general health, the available bone and the ability to look after the implants well. We clarify this in a thorough examination.
